Taking Off
I see your plane taking off in the sky,
Wave my hand and say goodbye.
The silhouette against the sunset of New Jersey,
Past few months, now so blurry.
A voyage taken,
We just passed the bailsman.
Some day you may discover,
Love for you is my greatest gesture.
You missed an opportunity,
My heart now so crushed and bloody.
Never spoon again,
Not even on December ten.
The end has come after eight,
Unless magic can happen after you vacate.
Time ran out, time did fade,
Love like this should never be delayed.
Paralyzed love is not conscious,
Lovers have been left breathless.
You have left me vacant,
From my heart you are now absent.

Thirty One
If you think I cannot wait thirty one more years, you are all wrong.
I’ve waited thirty one years for this very moment.
I can certainly wait another thirty one more years.

Talk
Mothers talk to your sons
Fathers talk to your daughters
Grandchildren talk to your grandparents
And brothers to their sisters
Rabbis talk to priests
Jews talk to antisemites
Catholics talk to Arabs
And Atheists talk to born-again Christians
Women talk to men
And rich talk to poor
Black talk to white
Fags talk to homophobes
Artists talk to other artists
Teachers talk to your students
Song writers talk to your fans
Doctors talk to patients
Depressed talk to those who smile
Friends talk to your enemies
Hosts talk to your guests
And lovers talk to lovers
Sun talk to Moon
And Earth talk to Sky
Let your heart talk
For, without talking,
No one will get anywhere.

Thump, Thump, Thump
and she wondered, “Was it really he that was at my door? Was it he that was knocking all night long?”
and she woke up, unsure of what was real and what was her imagination.
the only thing she did know, or so it seemed, was the faint, thump, thump, thump.
the beating of his heart,
just outside her door,
just outside her door.

Twelve
Stop feeding me
This sugar solution
Stop at the 12th floor window
My hands are on the door
But you don't let me freshen up
I watch you pull the sheets over your body
I see you do the Thorazine shuffle
But you –
you are still silent
Because if you were to speak
A loud roar
And you'd wake up from your wet dream
Thinking it was Autumn
And Autumn is dead now
Autumn is dead.

Thirty Minutes
In thirty minutes,
I can claim a victory.
In thirty minutes,
I can devour my love.
In thirty minutes,
I can be saved.
In thirty minutes,
She’ll pull the trigger.
In thirty minutes,
An end is near.
In thirty minutes,
It’s more than easy.
In thirty minutes.

This Is For You
This is my heart.
Take it.
Read it like the books on your shelves.
Examine it,
Like your monthly blood.
Let my song be heard; my whisper upon you.
Walk down the aisle with me, a vision shared,
For I have invited, and our children will follow.
Your scent still lingers upon my own person.
I drift endlessly in your blue eyes.
Get wrapped up in your beauty.
Take you to the basin,
Wash your hair
Under the canopy of the stars.
Your smooth ivory skin in my hands,
Soft to my touch.
I follow your voice, a loving haunt;
Like the wind carrying my soul.
You walked away; I followed your path,
There I saw, our journey of love.
Finally realized with respect and passion.
After a flexure on the rippled sea.
You are everything I want, more for my heart.
Everything beyond my working day;
My working week. And my today.
Listen to my hymn; you know I will be he.
My luminosity is more than an ephemeral moment.
For my heart has skipped before my third decade.
Listen to the hidden psalm,
An arresting kiss; speechless you are left.
My heart needs to be mourned,
By the very grace before me.
So let the chariots of love be summoned.
Beneath the silent moon I will surrender.
I have fallen; my seed is forever yours,
And yours; I shall be.

This Is My Land
Call my name and pull at my cloth
Feel the thunder wave beneath your planted feet
This is my land and I will not surrender
This is my land and I will defend it
Listen to the running footsteps
See the horizon twist in a struggle with your smoke
My golden-blue eagle eyes will capture you
The open sky will fall upon your ancestors forever
My brothers from afar will come
From the heroic Hudson to the mighty Mississippi
This is my land and I will not surrender
This is my land and I will defend it
Roam elsewhere and first defeat your heart
Do not attempt to capture our spirits
For we are a people of our own
We are not your property nor earth
Take back your weapons and your whiteness
Go back to your land to your people
This is my land and I will not surrender
This is my land and I will defend it
The wide spanning golden-blue is coming
Shaded by the trees of the mother
Guided and guarded by the spirit
The Moon, The Stars, The Sun, and his lover’s heart
He will fly beyond sweet blooms
Find her among your chaotic seas
This is my land and I will not surrender
This is my land and I will defend it
With visions at night he dances
By sunrise he soars with honor
Through the great rains and above
He seeks the torso of defeat
In his dreams she stood
On this land of his she became
This is my land and I will not surrender
This is my land and I will defend it
White people go home
Bring your family and your beliefs
Take with you nothing you have not brought
End the draught of despair
This is my land and I will not surrender
This is my land and I will defend it
This is my land and I found her
This is my land and I love her

Time To Go
I’m long overdue.
It’s time to visit my favorite floor.
To not have pillows and see nails in doors.
I’ll give my father the peace symbol.
Witness my grandparents cry again.
Get scolded for pleasuring myself.
Admitting to no wrong doings.
Keep sketches not created by me.
Eat with the roaches at the dining table.
Not understand the television.
Eat my sweet bananas.
Escape this cynical world.
Visit the bad waiters.
Get lost on the subway train to the museum.
Go underground in secret passageways.
Spring buds on the trees, but it was just winter.
Time to spit, time to color, and time to break.
Let’s play pool and ping-pong and hang-man.
I’ll let all of them worry about me.
Some can quit smoking or drinking.
Loose your weight and gain your strength.
Watch me shrivel up into the fetal position.
I’ll get punctured in my back.
Once again we’ll measure my protein levels.
Objects will appear closer; I’ve got a disease.
Time to go.
I’m long overdue.
Time to go...

Through My Brain
I don’t know how I could be typing this.
Because I put a bullet through my brain.
Pop. Snap. Blam.
I know how I could be typing this.
Because I’m typing this.
This poem.
Before I pulled the trigger.
And now I’ll hit send.
And one of you,
will have to come to my studio
and clean up the bits and pieces
of brain matter
on my lap
and lap top
keyboard.

Tell Me Not To Fall
Tell me,
whisper to me.
Take my ear,
cup it with your warm hands.
Whisper to me
with your soft rose colored lips.
Whisper to me,
silently,
faintly,
honestly.
Tell me,
as you hold my hand
our fingers among each other,
our hands encompassing each other.
Tell me,
this evening.
Tell me,
in the morning.
Whisper to me,
in my ear
with your romance.
Whisper to me,
Tell me not to fall.
in love with you.

Tension
All this pulling
and all this pushing.
I don’t know where to run,
and I don’t know where to hide.
I’m thinking I’ll just take a bow out,
a lasting farewell,
a lasting dance.
All this pulling,
and all this pushing.
It drives me mad,
insanity with a return point unheard.
I don’t know where I’ll go
or what I’ll do.
In the end,
I’ll wave a good-bye,
as you say your last wishes.

The Tiger Dance
And so, she whispered
Hinted with her eyes
Took the approach
Danced the dance
Came in nearer
Not nearly enough
A wicked dance
Penetrating through
Roaring, Growling
Coming through
Seeing through
Dancing with the sway
She closed her eyes
Dreamed of the passion
Hidden desires lie within
Pleasure opens one’s soul
She danced the dance
The tiger that she was
Roared all night
Echoed in my mind

Trouble Maker
I’m the Trouble Maker
You better watch out.
I’m the Trouble Maker
I’ll make love to you
I’m the Trouble Maker
You’ll fall in love with me
I’m the Trouble Maker
You can’t take it
I’m the Trouble Maker
There is no hope left
I’m the Trouble Maker
I’ll make you eat it
I’m the Trouble Maker
I’ll make you take it
I’m the Trouble Maker
I’ll make you part it
I’m the Trouble Maker
You better watch out!

TraLurning & FndLurning
At age fourteen I learned an important lesson
At age twenty-something I learned another important lesson
At age thirty-something I learned a very important lesson
And now, ageless,
I apologize from the depth of my heart,
For being a man,
To you, specifically,
I am sorry.

Two
Every night
I sleep alone
Every commercial
I see you
And I smile
I think of you
And I sink inside
Feel warm inside
I walk by a new mother
And I smile
Because of you
I’ve got to go on
Forever
To see you grow
Older and older
And see your laughs and smiles
All so very fine
